what we believe

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

Grace, Faith, and God's Word

As a ministry of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, CYPRESS CHAPEL believes the Bible-based teachings
that can be summarized in three short phrases: GRACE ALONE, FAITH ALONE, and GOD'S WORD ALONE.
Grace Alone
God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him and do not deserve His love. He sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save the ungodly.
Faith Alone
By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for them. Those who hear this Good News and believe it have the eternal life that it offers. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him.
God's Word Alone
The Bible is God's inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His covenant and kingdom of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the rule and norm for all belief and through it makes us aware of sin, fills us with faith in Jesus, and guides us to follow Him.

The Holy Trinity

CYPRESS CHAPEL teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God who rescues men, women, and children
from the effects of sin by calling us by the Holy Spirit to trust in God's Son, Jesus, as our Savior.

We believe in the FATHER, creator of all that exists;
We believe in JESUS CHRIST, THE SON,
who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all people
 and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan;
and we believe in the HOLY SPIRIT,
who creates faith through God's Word and Sacraments,
and pours out His blessings on God’s people each day.

Peace That Surpasses All Understanding

In Jesus, God Himself was with us on this earth. Jesus was not only with us, but for us. He came into this sinful and dying world to fight our enemies: sin, death, and the devil.

He came to set us free.

He defeated these enemies by laying down His own life. Through His perfect life and by His death on the cross, Jesus paid the full debt of sin for all people. Those who place their trust in Him are forgiven. They are declared righteous and are reconciled to God.
